Health Services

Certified school nurses and health room nurses provide coverage in the health rooms. District nurses may give Tylenol or Ibuprofen to students per standing orders and at the nurse’s discretion.

Parents are contacted as seriousness warrants. Please keep emergency contact information and phone numbers up to date. Emergency Form: EnglishEspañol

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IF:

  • He/She has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher
  • Vomiting or diarrhea occurred during the previous night

Health Screenings

Every pupil is weighed, measured, and screened for vision once each year.

All pupils in K3, K4, K5, Grades 1, 2, 3, 7, and 11 are given a hearing test.

All sixth and seventh grade students are screened for scoliosis.

Students who do not pass a screening for vision, hearing, or scoliosis will have a referral sent home.

Dental Examinations

The State of Pennsylvania School Health Act requires students to have a dental examination upon entrance to school in K5 or Grade 1 and also in Grades 3 and 7. It is recommended that the family dentist does this examination.

A dental hygienist for the district provides dental education and screenings. Referrals are sent home for those children needing further dental care.

Physical Examinations

The State of Pennsylvania School Health Act requires all school age students to have a periodic physical examination upon entrance to school in K5 or Grade 1 and also in Grades 6 and 11. Physical Examination Report Form to be completed by your child’s doctor.

An exam cannot be done at school if the parent/guardian does not sign a permission form.

Athletic exams will be offered before each sport season.
