GEAR UP, which stands for Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, is a grant from the United States Department of Education that seeks to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.
In fall of 2011, the School District of Lancaster received a GEAR UP grant to serve students set to graduate in 2017 and 2018. This grant is a collaborative effort among the School District of Lancaster, Millersville University, Franklin & Marshall College, the Lancaster Education Foundation, the Pennsylvania Migrant Education Program, and Wells Fargo that seeks to increase the college preparedness, readiness, and success of the graduating Classes of 2017 and 2018.
These students are currently rising college freshmen and rising college sophomores. While these students have already graduated from McCaskey, the GEAR UP program will continue to support them through September 2018.
If you are a Class of 2017 or Class of 2018 GEAR UP student or parent, and you need support this summer in preparing for enrollment in college this fall, please contact Shante Morant at email@example.com.
